Amanda Bossard, fresh out of Anchorage High School in the year 1992, began her studies in marine biology. Bossard's professional career started in 1999, when she took a job aboard the vessel F/V Sunset. It is a 65-foot halibut vessel was converted to a salmon tender by Murat Ariatn. He is a commercial fisherman for more than twenty years. Bossard and Aritan have been married since 1993 and are working together to claim their place in their business. Both are in the direction of preserving resources and maximising profits. In 2007, the mother to two kids Bella age 3 as well as Andre 1 Bossard before returning to her home in Philadelphia, opened a direct market wholesale distributor of seafood named Otolith. Its name is an affectionate reference to her deep understanding of fish biology and her husband's long connection to the industry of seafood, often keeping them apart for 5 months or more at a time while they focus on the environment and financial goals that are a reflection of their individuality and commitment to their community wherever they live. Bossard along with Isabella Andre and Isabella Andre (ages 12, 10 respectively) are back each year, starting in July 2016 and continue to Southeast Alaska for the summer catch of salmon wild. With a small 42 troller they catch salmon using hooks. Then they work alongside Aritan working in the local processing plant for a couple of weeks.
